I just turned 27. I gulp every time I say it out loud, but honestly I’m pretty excited.
Even just a few years ago, I never could have imagined what life would be like as a 27-year-old. It’s only been a few days, but my collective wisdom and life experience has brought me here. This is a guide to being 27 years old.
Say “Yes” More
They say that life is about experiences. This might sound harsh, but if you never say “yes" your life is probably going to be a very boring one.
Say “yes” to new opportunities, experiences, and friendships. Saying “yes” can help you find your people, discover new hobbies, and maybe even help you make the changes you’ve been yearning for.
Say “No” More
The day-to-day grind is mentally and physically exhausting. It’s important to take time for yourself to reenergize, refuel, and take care of yourself.
When you feel yourself reaching a tipping point, say “no.” Practicing self-care is important so that you can genuinely enjoy saying “yes.”
Don’t Avoid Conflict Because It’s Scary
There are many instances in life when you may experience conflict. There are business conflicts, conflicts with loved ones, and even conflicts internally.
Don’t avoid conflict because it’s scary, especially when you know conflict is inevitable.
When it comes to making hard decisions, stop putting them off. Face, actively confront, and solve problems as they arise. Be pointed and confident.
Being more forward about confronting conflict makes you a better problem-solver and headstrong individual, and we all need to be more of those things.
Chasing Dreams at 27 Years Old
There’s something interesting about being 27. Chances are, you have quite a bit of work experience and maybe even a little economic flexibility.
Age 27 is a great time to take a risk. Maybe you start a business from the ground up or travel the world for a year. Whatever it is, chasing dreams at 27 years old is a viable reality. Why not give it a shot?
